SLE Specialism: School Business Management
School and Current Role: Business Manager at Enfield County School
Areas of Expertise

My area of expertise is Human Resources Management and I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, which covers Employment Law, Employee Relations, Employee Reward and Training & Development as well as providing a strategic focus in all areas.  Prior to becoming a School Business Manager at Enfield County School, I worked for a number of years as a Human Resources Manager in the private sector for an International Management Consultancy.  My professional qualification as well as my experience in the private sector has enabled me to apply different strategies to facilitate change within the school with positive outcomes.  At Enfield County change has been achieved by ensuring that the school’s ethos and high professional standards are maintained throughout all our communication and transactions.

Recent examples of work with other schools
Since January 2011 I have worked with a number of primary and secondary schools in the local authority and one secondary school in Hertfordshire providing advice and support in all areas of SBM, for example, tasks that fall within a statutory and legal framework such as Financial Regulations, Procurement, Personnel and Building Projects.  I have worked with a cluster of Primary Schools, which included a special school and another secondary school to appoint a School Business Manager and I am currently supporting a new SBM in a secondary school and a primary school business manager, providing advice in relation to creating and implementing systems, structures and policies across all areas of the school.

SLE Specialism: School Business Management and Financial Management
School and Current Role: School Operations Manager at Lea Valley High School
Areas of Expertise:
The role of School Operations Manager is hugely complex and I fully understand the importance of such a role in a school. I have worked in the Education department of the London Borough of Enfield for 23 years - 10 years for the local authority in Education Finance and 13 at Lea Valley High School as School Operations Manager. Having worked in both fields, I feel this has provided me with an excellent background and also excellent working relationships with my colleagues. My areas of expertise include financial management, financial regulations and human resources.
Recent examples of work with other schools:
From January 2012 to November 2012, I worked at a secondary school in Enfield for one day a week following the departure of their Business Manager. My tasks involved the management of the school finances and work on personnel matters reporting to the Consultant Headteachers, School Governors and the Local Authority. I was subsequently involved in the interview process of the appointment of the new School Business Manager who took up post at the beginning of the Autumn Term 2012. I remained at the school for a further two months supporting the new Business Manager providing them with advice, support and guidance on their new role.
